C. Chris Wood, Vice President of the Santa Fe Institute, is an esteemed neuroscientist, whose research centers on the search for computational primitives, the abstraction keys that underlie cognition. An interdisciplinary scientist, Woods previously worked as group leader of the Biological and Quantum Physics Group in the physics division at Los Alamos National Laboratory. Trained in neuroscience and cognitive psychology, his research encompasses brain imaging and modeling, and biological computation as well as examination of the neural processes involved in creativity and linguistic capacity.
